Algorfa is home to the New La Finca Golf Course (www.golflafinca.com) just 2 minutes by car from the apartment. The course was designed by Jose Gancedo and enjoys 300 days of sunshine a year It is bookable with an e-mail to caddie@golflafinca.com. At the entrance to La Finca are the new buildings for at least 70 shop's, restaurants,and banks. There are also 3 other golf courses, 5 marinas and 2 water parks in the area of Alicante. About 5 minutes drive from the apartment is the Rojales Water Park. There is within walking distance an open air swimming pool which costs 1 euro for adults and 50 cents for children. There are also tennis courts, football and a childrens play area on the same site.
The village is typically Spanish, there are many shops selling Local Produce, Butcher,Baker,Newsagents,Pharmacy,Beauty salon/Gym,Hairdresser, Florist, Banks,Post Office,
Tapas bars Restaurants and the local bodega were you can sample the wine before buying. Next door to the apartment is Alquibla restaurant and La Ermita just 5 minutes walk away were I recommend you try La Ermita huevos (different also a new Pizza restaurant.) The very new cafe bar 'Mananas' and The Vestry were can have an a la carte menu.
Markets are held once a week in the square and in other areas everyday.The best by far is Zoco which is 5 minutes away.
5 minutes by car is Benijofa and Benimar where there are lots of great restaurants. Also I would like to add in all of the villages including Algorfa there are Festivals held every July and August. These are very special to the locals,and have floats, music, bands, dancers, and not forgetting the fireworks. The beautiful old town of Guadamar is just 15 minutes away and has a natural pine forest leading onto the finest beaches in the area, great restaurants,tapas bars,shops,market,and ice cream parlours. Torrevieja is very similar, with a beautiful marina and harbour. The historic town of Orihuela is a short drive away,and has many Palm trees, also the beautiful city of Elche is worth a visit with over 300,000 Palm trees. Villamartin has a lovely plaza with excellant restaurants,particularly 'Eduardo's', you really need to book a table here. He is now at The La Finca golf course too. On our latest visit we have tried two more great restaurants. The Asian Wok Buffet at Quesarda and the Fish and Chip shop with Food like The Yorkshire 'Harry Ramsdens Another super restaurant we have found is in the 'parc natural' at La Mata. It is a great German restaurant with the most fantastic menu, beautiful food and "Guess what!!" free beer, wine, and water with your meal. Lunchtime 9.50 euro and Evening 14.40 euro. Not to be missed!!!!
The very famous La Manga takes less than an hour to reach.This is an unusual resort in as much as there are two opportunities for you. There is the beach and the sea, also the Mar Menor which incorporates the lake or the Lido with little coves of beaches on the lake. On the Lido there are climbing rocks for all to enjoy. Of course if you are in the mood for 'Shopping' the lovely City of Alicante is just 25 minutes away. Enjoy the old town with lots of restaurants in the tiny streets. Also the fabulous marina were you can choose a free chair and sit and enjoy the yacht's 'to die for'. And after you have done Shopping nothing better than to relax and enjoy the Therapeutic Salt Lakes.
The coastline of 21 miles of Blue Flag glorious sandy beaches offers so much for everyone to have a fantastic holiday.Easily as good if not better than the Caribbean.
